END OF SUMMER READING PARTY! This FRIDAY, July 24th at 1:30 pm at the Maria Stein American Legion Shelter House. Come enjoy our summer reading finale party at a safe distance. We are having a outside party so bring your chairs and blankets. Masks are strongly encouraged. Prizes and goody bags will be given out after the performance.

Posted July 13th, 2020 Make-n-take bags for week 6 are ready to go. This week the kids can make a paper cup fairy house and a fairy wand, as well as finishing the activity pages. Look for the hidden codes to claim more points. Don’t forget to look for those fun guessing pages to call in and be entered in a special drawing. Bags will be available till Sat July 18th. We are open now, so stop by pick up craft bags and check out some books.

Chalk drawings for a secret code
Posted 7/8/2020. Want another secret code for our summer reading program? Take a picture of you/your kids etc. with a chalk drawing they did on your sidewalk or driveway to marion@mercerlibrary.org and receive a secret code. We may feature your drawing on facebook. Don’t have any chalk or driveway….stop in at the library and you can draw something on our sidewalk. Draw anything you like….imagine your story.

Downtown scavenger hunt

Take a walk downtown and look in the windows for a white sign that has a number and letter on it. Start at the library and end at Warren St. They are on both sides of Main Street. There are a total of 13 signs. Some might be a little tricky to find so be sure take your time. When you get all 13 signs found, put the numbers in numerical order to reveal your secret code for extra points.

Make-N-Take craft bags for week 4 are ready to go. This week your kids can make wood spoon Mermaids, a trident and a paper tube Prince and Princess, as well as activity pages. There may be some hidden codes for some extra points.! Make sure to look through bag there are a couple of pages to call in with an answer, to be entered into a special drawing for an guessing game prize.
These bags will be available until July 11th. Stop by, we are open now, so pick up your craft bags and any books you would like.
Jack & the Beanstalk take and make craft and activity packet

This week we are doing Jack & the Beanstalk. We have a beanstalk craft to color and cut out and glue. We also have sunflower seeds that you can start in a bag with a moist paper towel and watch them start to grow and then plant them outside. There is an activity packet with coloring pages and mazes to complete as well. You might even have a secret code to enter once you have completed the craft and activity packet. These bags will be available until Saturday, June 13th or until we run out. Call to pick up your craft bags and we can bring them right out to your vehicle along with any books you might want.

Posted 6/4/2020 Scavenger Hunt! There are castles located in various businesses windows in Chickasaw, Maria Stein and Osgood. Find the 5 castles in Chickasaw and receive a secret code, find the 5 castles in Maria Stein and receive a secret code and find the 5 castles in Osgood and receive a secret code. Email the codes on the castles and/or the location from each town to marion@mercerlibrary.org and we will verify them and send you the secret code. You could potentially get 3 secret codes. (Do NOT go into the business, the castles can be viewed from the outside)

he loves books, she is very smart, but….. she is kinda EVIL. When you step into the library for a Summer Reading Program the Evil Librarian locks the door behind you with multiple locks and laughs. She looks at you and says she is keeping you trapped in the library FOREVER! Your job is to search for clues around the library in order to unlock the locks. Not everything is a real clue, some things are put there to trick you. Good Luck!
